The best Chinese restaurant in Nissin
We recently visited Iwasaki Castle, so we decided to stop by one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Nissin. Apparently, it’s difficult to get there without a car, but this restaurant was awarded a Michelin Plate in 2019.
Although I’ve been there many times for dinner, this was my first time going for lunch, and it was crowded even before the opening time. This blog is our review of Shisen China Hachibei during lunchtime!
Location at Hachibei
The restaurant is located just a 3-minute walk down the street from Iwasaki Castle.
Although there are approximately 5 parking spaces in front of the restaurant, they were all occupied even before the opening time. As we had visited Iwasaki Castle, we decided to park at the Iwasaki Castle park and walk to the restaurant this time. ( If you visit to the Iwasaki Castle, that’s no biggie! )
Shisen China Hachibei
The restaurant inside is not very large. You’ll find tables and a Japanese-style room called Zashiki. If you visit with a baby, there is a small chair available to support your baby, which can be used in the Zashiki Room. The Zashiki room is in the Horigotatsu style, where you can place your legs inside the foot place, making it more comfortable for those with leg problems.

You can choose the spice level, making it a good option for kids or those who don’t like spicy foods. Ray chose a 100% spice level, and he was literally sweating! You can also select the size of the white rice.
I am a huge fan of Tan Tan Men, as I used to work in a Chinese restaurant before. The Tan Tan Men soup is quite unique with its Goma flavor, and I really love it.
The Ramen looks spicy… Yes, the spice level is at 100%!

Summary
While I’ve visited many times to order à la carte during dinner, I found that lunchtime offers a more reasonable option with the set lunch. I personally recommend booking a table and parking at Iwasaki Castle, then walking down to the street, as the parking is usually fully occupied even before the opening time. If you choose to park in front of the restaurant, I recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before opening.
Additionally, please note that the restaurant only accepts cash payments. So, ensure you have enough cash with you, especially if you’re someone who typically doesn’t carry cash like me!
