Healthy & Casual Lunch at THE BROOKLYN CAFE

Risa

Today, I had an appointment near Kanayama station, so I had a quick lunch by myself at THE BROOKLYN CAFE. The cafe is designed to resemble those in Brooklyn, giving it a classy atmosphere inside. I arrived at 11 am, right at the opening time. Though it was initially quiet, I soon noticed that it’s a popular spot among locals as more people gradually arrived.

RECOMMENDED FOR
  • Vegan / Vegetarian
  • Keen for healthy foods
  • Casual lunch / Late Evening Dinner
  • Near at Kanayama station

ACCESS

The Brooklyn Cafe is located just a 2-minute walk from Kanayama station. Please use the South Exit (NOT the Asunaru Kanayama side) and follow the path to the Starbucks on the left side. Once you reach the Starbucks, you’ll find a small traffic light in front of Family Mart (Convenience Store). Cross the road and then turn left. I simply used Google Maps to get there.

WHAT I ORDERED FOR LUNCH

At first, I thought it was a burger cafe restaurant due to its name, Brooklyn, but it’s not! As you can see on the board, there is a wide selection of pasta. It feels more like an Italian restaurant somehow!

The signature dishes are SALAD BOWLS! You can choose from 9 bowls and 6 dressing selections. You can customize your order with additional toppings for an extra charge. The base is Genmai, which is healthy rice containing a lot of dietary fiber, similar to vegetables or Lo Mein Salad.

HOW TO ORDER FOOD & DRINKS

Ordering food is a little tricky! You have to scan the QR code and order via your phone, but it’s written in Japanese, even though I used the English setting on my iPhone. But don’t worry!

The menu has pictures and some items written in English, so you can decide what to order and then call the staff. When it comes to payment, you need to bring the small QR code with the table number.

SUMMERY

THE BROOKLYN CAFE is a casual restaurant suitable for lunch or dinner. The interior is stylish and classy, making it a good choice for a drink after a lunch or dinner date as well. 🙂

I might come back for a drink instead of going to the nearby Starbucks. If you’re looking for a break from Japanese food or seeking vegan options, it could be a suitable choice. The advantage is that they are open until late, until 23:00 and even midnight.

In my opinion, if I were near Nagoya station, this might not be my first choice as there are similar cafe restaurants around Nagoya station. So, you don’t have to make a special trip! I would recommend stopping by if you happen to be near Kanayama station!
