The best autumn leaves spot in Inazawa City

Risa

Inazawa Ginnan Park has relatively good access, right next to Yamazaki station, while most popular autumn leaves spots in Aichi are located in the mountains and are difficult to reach without a car.

Inazawa City is famous for the Ginkgo tree, known as ‘Ginnan‘. There are more than 10,000 Ginkgo trees in Sobue Town, and some of the trees have a history of more than 400 years! I understand that some of you may not like the smell; however, Inazawa Ginnan Park is a beautiful street and a picturesque area with Ginkgo trees in the park.

Ginkgo trees are especially beautiful when their leaves change color to yellow. Unfortunately, when we visited on 19th November 2023, we were a little early, and the leaves in the park were still greenish.

Even for us locals, visiting at the best timing can be quite challenging. Based on our experience, let me share a more practical way to ensure that the leaves have not fallen off when you visit.

Inazawa Ginnan Park

Inazawa Ginnan Park is located right next to Yamazaki Station. While it’s not a huge park, it’s nice to walk around and relax on the hill. The Sobue Koyo Matsuri is held every year (from November 18th to 26th, 2023 this time), so during the festival, there are some food and drink stalls and a few small shops in the park!

How to get to the other spot? You will walk pass by Yamazaki station, and then you will find a beautiful autumn leaves spot at the local Japanese temple called Yusenji, just a 3-minute walk from the park. Sobue Town has more than 10,000 Ginkgo trees, so you may discover other great spots and enjoy walking around the town to experience the Japanese autumn.

Before visiting the spot, quickly check the ‘RECENT POST‘ under the location tag above, and make sure to note the upload date. Last year, the best timing for Sobue Ginnan Park was between the middle and end of November. However, due to the warm weather this year, when we visited on the 19th of November, the leaves were still mostly green.

If your main purpose is to enjoy autumn foliage during your trip, I would recommend listing a few spots in advance and then checking the latest information via Instagram hashtags!
